07/2017. Strip heater design

Basic idea...

I like to try to control a strip (from an old toaster) most likely made from nichrome wire, a nickel chromium alloy, to bend some plastic. The easy way if possible!
For this I need a sort of a driver to control the temperature of the wire.

12 Volt 21 Watt driver design...

It was designed for an 12 volt lamp but seems to work well as a short stripheater.

Place it all on a strip of aluminium. Use a few terminal blocks (3way) and two 3mm rods and the basic idea comes to life.
I used a spring to get some tension on the strip. The shorter the spring, the longer I can make the strip. (or use a longer aluminium strip and 3mm rods)
